Hells gate st park (Lewiston Idaho) to Winchester st park (Winchester Idaho) 41 miles. 556 from the Pacific.
A great day to be on the bike. A 15 mile climb on old Winchester grade road. Omg what beautiful views. I met three car all day. It was the toughest mountain so far. I was told by another biker that these get ya in shape for whats to come. Bring it on I say. My engine is feeling strong and used all three water bottles today. Had a great sleep last night thanks to my new friend greg for selling me a sleeping bag liner from his store in Lewiston.
The smell of pine, wild roses, and fresh cut hay filled the fresh mountain air as I approached 4200 feet in elevation. Fields of cannola and rape seed were in full bloom in the valley below. One bee entered my shirt and stung my chest. Ouch. I did not take it personal.
Had a big ribeye for supper and mix berry pie to follow. Washed some clothes for tomorrow and then going to the rangers wolf movie. If I can stay up til 9pm. I doubt it. Take care – freebird

Like brother, like brother! How two brothers raised in the middle of the country and so many years apart could both have such a wandering spirit is confusing to me! Beautiful pix.
Hey Mike,
You’re making great progress – especially with the PIE! You know, it all starts with just 1 piece a day – then 2, then 3…
I hope those gears are treating you well on the climbs. I’m hoping you’re taking pics of your camping sites, they always brought back fond memories for us.
I hope we can still meet up around Glacier…
Fair winds,
Brad
Hi Mike,
We miss you at the “Squirrel Factory”. Bet you don’t miss it!
If I can guess your route, looks like you will be taking HWY 12 through the Clearwater Nat. Forest, riding along side of the Clearwater river. Looks like a road I would like to try (with a motor pushing me). Looks like it would be a picture around every corner. Following you on google maps.
Yours, Jim
Hey Mike,
Happy Father’s Day!
We are celebrating out at the farm today. Paul bought a new riding mower for he and Dad to share as a Father’s Day gift, only Dad doesn’t know that he’s chipping in for half of it 🙂
Enjoy your day.
